LEED® Credit Contribution of
Sila-Seal Industrial Grade
Silicone Sealants

There are two credits for the LEED® (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) rating system that apply to the Sila-Seal Industrial Grade Silicone Sealants. These credits are Credit 5.1 of section MR and Credit 4.1 of Section EQ.  There is one specific credit listed below, Credit 4.1 of section MR, that cannot be taken, but questions have come up in the past concerning this credit.  Refer to the specific LEED® literature for details concerning credits and when they can be taken.

Section MR (Materials and Resources), Credit 5.1
This credit relates to products manufactured within 500 miles of the building site location.  The manufacturing site of the Sila-Seal Industrial Grade Silicone Sealants is Elizabethtown, Kentucky, zip code 42701.  Refer to the LEED® literature and this specific credit for details and confirm your site is within 500 miles of the manufacturing location.

Section EQ (Indoor Environmental Quality), Credit 4.1
The Sila-Seal Industrial Grade Silicone Sealant VOC value is <30 g/L (grams/Liter) and falls below the applicable VOC limit listed within this credit.  This applies to all of the Sila-Seal Industrial Grade Silicone Sealants regardless of color.  This credit’s limit is 250 g/L and is set by the South Coast Air Quality Management District (SCAQMD) Rule #1168 requirements and the Bay Coast Air Quality Management District Regulation 9 (BAAQMD), Rule 51 requirements.

Section MR (Materials and Resources), Credit 4.1
This credit relates to recycle content of materials.  The Post-Consumer Recycled Content and the Post-Industrial Recycled Content is 0% - no credits can be taken.
